What’s been happening

Over the last few months, TNR Development Studio has been dealing with severe, recurring issues with Stripe and WooPay.

In plain terms: we’ve been forced into repeated “re-validation” and account checks—over and over—often daily. These interruptions have created unnecessary friction for our business and, potentially, for clients trying to pay invoices or complete checkout.

What makes this especially frustrating is that our track record is clean:

• We’ve never had a chargeback

• We’ve never had a dispute

• We’ve never had a discrepancy

Despite that, Stripe’s response has consistently been some version of: they don’t know why it’s happening. Then the issue gets “fixed” within minutes—only to return again the next day.

When a payment provider can’t explain why their own system keeps disrupting a legitimate business for months, that’s not a platform we can responsibly keep relying on.

Our decision (effective immediately)

We are moving away from Stripe and WooPay immediately.

To be transparent: we can’t fully shut Stripe off today because several existing processes and billing cycles still touch Stripe every few days. However, we are actively unwinding dependencies and migrating clients and systems off Stripe/WooPay as fast as we can—without creating downtime or broken billing.

This decision is about reliability and trust. Payments are a core business function. If the provider can’t deliver stability—or even a clear root cause—then the risk isn’t worth passing along to our clients.

What this means for current and future clients

If you’re a current client, you may notice changes in how you pay invoices or how checkout is handled on certain projects.

Here’s what to expect:

• Alternative payment options will be provided for active invoices and ongoing subscriptions.

• You may be contacted to re-submit your payment information before your next billing period, depending on how your account is set up.

• If you run WooCommerce, we can help you transition away from WooPay/Stripe to a more stable processor.

• If you have an existing payment flow we manage, we’ll coordinate changes with minimal downtime.

If you’re a future client, we want to be transparent up front: we will not be building new payment systems that depend on Stripe or WooPay.

Our recommendation to other businesses

Based on what we’ve experienced, we recommend that other businesses evaluate alternatives to Stripe and WooPay as soon as practical.

We’re not saying this lightly—switching processors is never fun—but when a provider repeatedly disrupts operations and can’t explain why, that’s a risk every business should take seriously.

We’re actively evaluating replacements

We are currently in discussions with other card processing providers.

To be candid, this industry is full of aggressive sales reps and upsell-heavy pitches, and it’s been difficult to find partners who prioritize straightforward, honest business.

Our criteria is simple:

• Stability and consistent underwriting behavior

• Clear communication and accountable support

• Fair pricing without “gotcha” fees

• A relationship built on long-term trust—not constant upsells

A note on reliability in tech

We’ll keep this direct: the modern tech stack is only as reliable as the people maintaining it.

We’re seeing more and more situations where critical systems fail without explanation, and support teams can’t provide clear root-cause answers. That’s not acceptable when payments and client operations are on the line.

Our job is to cut through that noise, protect your business, and choose vendors who can actually stand behind their systems.
